I’ve been dabbling with 3D Max for the past couple of weeks. After avoiding Max for about 7 years or so (due to considerable trauma), I thought I should give it another shot. The opportunity presented itself in the form of two colleagues (and good friends) of mine–Claude Jerome and Michael Kwan that were planning to create a game prototype using UDK. I offered to help with art and we’ve been meeting up almost everyday to work on the project. I’ve finished modeling Pio (the little robot character I had designed for the prototype). Texturing, rigging and animating are the next few things that I have to tackle in order to get Pio ready to be implemented in-game.
3D Max seems to be a lot less daunting after I’ve spent days trying to model this character and I’m very happy with my progress so far. I’m still working at a snail’s pace, but I’m looking forward to creating more 3D models of my character designs. Working on the project is a tiny bit tiring (especially after work) and it’s easy to want to flake off. Fortunately, I have friends that would keep pushing me forward!
On a side note, I was also energized with some gyuudon that I cooked tonight. Good food gives one the energy to work hard and happiness to keep the good spirits up ;”)
I’m currently updating the layout for the blog. Things might look funky for a little while :”)
